From food waste to food transition: chain collaboration

The call for food transition is not a new trend or temporary buzzword. It is a fundamental overhaul of how we produce, distribute and consume food. As Joris Lohman, founder of Food Hub, points out in his book Butter, Cheese and Oat Milk, we can meet the challenges of our food system only by not falling into opposing camps, but by working together. The food transition is a collective responsibility and cooperation within the chain is indispensable.

Food entrepreneurs looking for financing probably have some experience with it: the financing landscape is quite fragmented. Financiers don't know how to find entrepreneurs or are (too) risk-averse; entrepreneurs can't see the forest for the trees. How can we solve this? Not by offering fewer types of financing, but by cooperating more. We asked Wout Bierens, co-organizer of the Food Hub funding tables, how those tables can help.
