At the agriculture table with the architect

Everyone at the table for a broad-based narrative on food and agriculture
The "food system of the future" - we can't stop talking about it. It has already been mapped and written about in countless ways. But in this series of talks (in collaboration with de Balie in Amsterdam and the National Climate Platform) we are taking a different approach. We are not going to reinvent the wheel, not looking for yet another new vision; instead we will try to forge a 'broad-based narrative' together.
How do we achieve an agricultural vision in which the fertile Dutch delta can continue to flourish?
Thanks to our location in the delta, farming is good in the Netherlands. But space is scarce and not everything can be done everywhere. At the agriculture table we look at the possibilities: what can be done where? How do we make the right spatial choices so that the Dutch farmer has a sustainable future?
Dutch agricultural policy has long been short-term oriented. As far as The Hague is concerned, this does not seem to be changing for the time being. The Framework Agreement mainly talks about what will not change and the new Minister of Agriculture does not want to hear the word 'transition'. But that will not make the challenges facing agriculture disappear. Moreover, potential opportunities for farming remain unexploited.
How do we arrive at an agricultural vision in which the fertile Dutch delta can continue to flourish? And how do we align the challenges in agriculture with pressing issues such as urbanization, healthy drinking water and threatened nature? We will discuss this with landscape architect and national advisor Jannemarie de Jonge.
